Cake Smash FAQ

Yes! We work with a local Sheffield baker to provide a beautiful, themed cake that matches your colour scheme and setup. The cake is included in your session fee. If your little one has any allergies or dietary requirements, just let us know and we'll arrange a suitable alternative. You're also welcome to bring your own cake if you have a favourite baker or a family recipe you'd love to use.

We can create just about any theme or colour scheme you can imagine! Popular choices include florals, woodland, rainbows, safari, nautical, and classic pastels, but we're always happy to work with your ideas. During your pre-session consultation, we'll discuss your vision and plan a setup that perfectly suits your little one's personality and your home decor.

Just bring your baby, a few spare nappies, and a change of clothes for after the session. We provide outfits for the "before" portraits, the cake, and all props and decorations. We'll send a detailed preparation guide beforehand so you know exactly what to expect. If there are any special toys or items you'd like to include, you're welcome to bring those along.

That depends entirely on your baby! Some little ones dive straight in with both hands, while others take a more cautious approach. Either way, it makes for brilliant photographs. The messier the better as far as we're concerned! Don't worry about the cleanup -- we take care of everything, including a lovely warm bath splash at the end to rinse off all that icing.

Absolutely! Siblings are welcome to join in the fun. We usually photograph the birthday baby in their "before" portraits first, then bring siblings in for a few group shots. If they want to help with the cake smash, even better -- the more the merrier! Just let us know when you book so we can plan the session timing.

We recommend booking at least 4 to 6 weeks before your baby's first birthday to ensure availability and give us plenty of time to plan your theme and order the cake. Cake smash sessions are one of our most popular session types, especially during weekends, so the earlier you book, the more choice you'll have on dates.
