There is nothing quite like the first days with your new baby. Those tiny fingers, the softness of their skin, the way they curl up just as they did in the womb — these fleeting moments pass in the blink of an eye. Newborn photography is about preserving every exquisite detail so you can look back and remember exactly how small, how perfect, and how new your baby once was.
The ideal time for a posed newborn session is within the first 5 to 14 days of life. During this magical golden window, babies are at their sleepiest and most flexible, allowing us to gently guide them into those beautiful, curled-up poses that make newborn portraits so special. The earlier we can photograph your baby, the easier and more comfortable the session will be for everyone.
Our dedicated newborn studio here in Sheffield is purpose-built for the comfort and safety of your little one. Kept at a constant, cosy temperature of around 28°C, with soft lighting and a calm atmosphere, it’s the perfect environment for your baby to settle and sleep. Many parents tell us it’s the most relaxed few hours they’ve spent since bringing baby home — whether you’ve come from the Jessop Wing maternity unit, Barnsley Hospital, or further afield across South Yorkshire.
Every session is completely baby-led. We never rush, we never force a pose, and we always prioritise your baby’s comfort and safety above everything else. The result? Beautiful, natural images that you and your family will treasure for a lifetime.

Safety Always Comes First
Your baby’s safety is our absolute top priority. Every single pose and setup follows the guidelines set out by BANPAS (the Baby and Newborn Photography Association Standards), and we hold ourselves to the highest standards of safe practice.
Some of the more artistic poses you see in newborn photography — such as the popular “froggy” or “head in hands” pose — are actually composite images. This means we take two or more photographs and carefully blend them together in editing. At all times during these setups, a parent or spotter’s hands are supporting baby. Your baby is never left unsupported.
The studio is kept at approximately 28°C to keep your baby warm and settled, with a white noise machine to help soothe them. We are first-aid trained, fully vaccinated, and our equipment is cleaned and sanitised between every session.
If your baby is unsettled at any point, we simply pause, feed, and cuddle. There is never any pressure to achieve a particular pose — we work with your baby, not against them.
The Process
Book Your Session
Get in touch to reserve your date -- ideally before 34 weeks pregnant. We'll pencil in a tentative date around your due date and send you all the information you need.
Pre-Session Consultation
We'll have a relaxed chat (in person or over the phone) to discuss your vision, colour preferences, and any special requests. You'll receive a full preparation guide to help you get ready for the day.
Session Day
Arrive at the warm, comfortable studio and relax while we work our magic. We'll guide you through every pose and capture beautiful images of your baby, with optional parent and sibling shots.
Viewing & Ordering
Around 2-3 weeks after your session, you'll be invited back to the studio for a cinematic reveal of your images. Choose your favourites and select from our range of beautiful products, from albums to wall art.
Newborn Session Investment
Every newborn session includes the full studio experience — use of our entire prop and wardrobe collection, parent and sibling shots, and professional editing. We offer flexible packages to suit your needs, from a curated selection of images to your complete gallery.
